Hi, I’m Nikita!
A twenty-something avid food lover and aspiring food photographer.
I grew up in Cape Town (South Africa) but moved to the United Kingdom at the innocent age of 18.
I’ve always been passionate about travelling, food and cooking. If I could do ANYTHING with my life – I would spend it eating all around the world. I mean who wouldn’t, am I right?
When I’m not cooking or baking, I am almost definitely thinking about food!
As long as I can remember food has always been a big part of my life. Most of my childhood memories have to do with food in some way.
I got my first job when I was 16 in a restaurant, and ever since then I have worked in the hospitality industry – so I am literally always surrounded by food.
In 2018 I was diagnosed with PCOS, unknowingly, I had been suffering from the symptoms for years. It was very relieving to discover there were ways to improve the symptoms!
I was encouraged by the stories I read about various women with the same disorder that had cut gluten and dairy out of their diets and even going plant-based! Their symptoms seemed to get better, if not go away altogether. This was very enticing to me as I suffered quite badly.
At first, I was sceptical about cutting gluten and dairy out. I thought it would be the hardest thing EVER. It took me a while to convince myself, and even then I started by just cutting out gluten. I thought I would never be able to stop eating dairy (I was OBSESSED with cheese). But look at me now!
I would not label myself a vegan, but I’ve been trying to live a vegan lifestyle as much as I can, and surprisingly – I am LOVING it! I try to eat as whole and healthy as I possibly can because I feel my best when I do, but that does not mean I just eat salad and veggies! I believe that living a balanced lifestyle is the secret to being healthy and happy, so I do have at least one treat a day!
Kits Eats will be a platform for me to share my healthy(-ish) gluten-free and vegan recipes which sometimes come along with a sappy story or ‘fun’ facts!
I definitely still have a lot to learn and that excites me!
I hope you will follow my journey and enjoy my recipes, stories and food photography!
